Storhamar Hamar marked their return to the Champions Hockey League with a come from behind win against Tappara Tampere after a thrilling shootout. In the Norwegian side's first taste of CHL action since 2015/16, they took Tappara to a nine-round shootout after initially falling down two goals midway through the game.
Tappara took a two goal advantage after Juani Jasu found the net less than three minutes into the game, and then Jere Karjalainen added to the scoreline midway through the second frame. Storhamar then mounted their comeback with a late goal from Niklas Topias Fogström in the second period, before Patrick Thoresen scored to tie the score in the final frame.
Then in a dramatic shootout, the first few rounds saw plenty of goals, including one incredible "Forsberg-esque" move, which was just one of three goals from Thoresen, who was on top form as Storhamar took two points with the shootout win.
