Goaltender Jonas Gunnarsson and Ilves Tampere's forwards were the stars of the show as they beat HC Bolzano by a six-goal difference. Bolzano's bad discipline and 50+ penalty minutes definitely didn't make it easy for the home team, which was a shame because when they weren't in the penalty box they were rather good.

This is the Finnish team's second win on the road as they take their second set of three points, while Bolzano remain pointless, losing their second game of the season - this time in front of their faithful home fans. 

Gunnarsson recorded a 95+% Save percentage as the goalie blocked 21 shots on goal, while Bolzano's forwards struggled to convert in front of net, scoring only once despite racking up over 2.3 Expected Goals.

The Italian team's defencemen can also be blamed for the rather high goal difference - penalty minutes aside, Ilves scored one too many goals by capitalising on Bolzano's blunders in their own zone.

Ilves's scoring started as early as the fourth minute of the game when they scored three in under three minutes. Following a bevy of penalties on both teams, Bolzano reduced the score to 3-1 on the powerplay.

The 19th minute of the game saw seven penalties dished out, including two 20+5s for Ilves's Niklas Friman and Bolzano's Lucas Lessio.

The second period can be characterised in one sentence - six two-minute penalties for Bolzano, four powerplay goals for Ilves.

The final frame, rather surprisingly, saw no goals change the 7-1 scoreline, but Bolzano did take an extra eight penalty minutes just so Ilves could properly test their powerplay units.
