- Zurich scored two empty-net goals
- Anže Kuralt scored lone goal for Fehérvár
- Lucas Wallmark: 2G, 1A
The Swiss ZSC Lions Zurich hosted Fehérvár AV19 for their second face-off in Group D. Just as Zurich were able to open the scoring early in their first match, Lucas Wallmark kept the tradition alive, getting the first one past the net during the man-advantage courtesy of Daniel Szabo’s holding call.
Fehérvár got two back-to-back powerplays when Šimon Hrubec was binned for delaying the game and Alexandre Texier for tripping, but the away team couldn’t execute the equaliser, despite getting their third man advantage as the first period wrapped up.
Starting off the second stanza with a remaining powerplay for Féhervár did little to get them on the board. Zurich got the next man advantage after Andrew Sarauer got the double minor for high sticking, but the home team also fell short.
Zurich got their second goal at the bottom of the second stanza but after review, an off the hand call was determined.
With just under a minute left in the second period, Fehérvár's Anže Kuralt was able to turn the tide and score the equaliser on the transistion play with a wide open net.
Both teams came out of the locker rooms for the final period with the score tied 1-1 but Fehérvár had no idea what was about to happen - a huge push from Zurich landed them two goals in the first 10 minutes, to put the Swiss 3-1 up.
Fehérvár, eager to claw their way back into the game, pulled their goalie at 53:24, but Sven Andrighetto swiped the puck on the counter and found himself close to the empty net. He managed to get just enough on it on the backhand to make the game 4-1.
Zurich then added goal #5 at 59:45, also an empty-netter, before the final buzzer sounded to the tune of 5-1 for Zurich.
