- Davos control 1st period, scoring 4 goals in final four minutes
- Belfast score lone goal of the 2nd stanza
- Six powerplays for both
Straight off the top of the opening period, the Belfast Giants got their first powerplay with just nineteen seconds on the clock after Enzo Corvi was called for roughing. Yet the home team, HC Davos, were able to waste away the clock before they could get anything going.
It seems that same chippy temperament we witnessed at their first face-off and followed them into their second as tempers flared with multiple roughing penalties called on both teams.
It would be Michael Fora and the assist by Enzo Corvi that opened the scoring at 13:19, giving Davos the lead. Once Davos got on the board, it was full steam ahead for the home team, scoring another four goals back-to-back in the last four minutes of the first period.
At 15:45 Enzo Corvi came in with the equalizer, followed up by Raphael Prassl and Chris Egli, as the home team closed out the first period with a stunning 4-0 lead.
The teal army finally got on the scoreboard with the goal by Ciaran Long and the assist by David Goodwin coming in at the 26:26 mark of the second period. This would prove to be the lone goal of the period, despite both teams having the man advantage sprinkled throughout the second stanza.
The third period was off to a relatively calm start until Davos' Matej Stránsky worked one in the slot scoring the sole powerplay goal of the game.
Although Belfast managed to put up a good fight, Davos were clearly in control of this match, as they led in shots on goal, 38-17, which afforded them a final score of 5-1 at the sound of the buzzer!
