HC Davos announced that they are not taking anybody lightly in this year’s CHL, showing no mercy by beating the Cardiff Devils 10-1. Felicien DuBois was the only player to score twice, while Nando Eggenberger, Robert Kousal, Broc Little and Andreas Ambül registered three points each.
Davos exploded out of the gate with two goals in the first four minutes. It was still only 3-0 halfway through the game, but the home team then exploded with four goals in a span of 3:45 in the last half of the second period to make it 7-0 after 40 minutes. They added three more goals, with the only bright spot for Cardiff coming when Joey Martin scored their only goal in the first minute of the period.
“Obviously it was pretty ugly - probably one of the worst defeats I’ve been a part of in a long time," confessed Cardiff coach Andrew Lord. "Penalties put us in trouble and conditioning was an issue as the game went on, but we’ll get better, we’ll make some chances and we’ll come back a lot stronger.”
"We were slow to get our feet moving, they were a step ahead with decision making as the game went on. But being on the ice with a team like that we can all learn from it."Joey Haddad (Cardiff Devils)
