As the playoffs continue and more teams fall, we get closer to finding out the two that will advance to the Final – and which one will host it.
The host team will be the Finalist with the better total record across all 12 CHL games played in the Group Stage, Round of 16, Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals. If both Finalists have the same number of points, the next criteria will be goal difference, followed by goals scored, and finally higher pre-season ranking.
In the Group Stage, 3 points were awarded for a regulation win, 2 points for an overtime/shootout win, 1 point for an overtime/shootout loss, and 0 points for a regulation loss. From this point forward, since individual games will not be decided in overtime, both teams will be awarded 1 point if the game is tied after 60 minutes.
Updated 16.01.2019, the current leaders in the race to host the Final are:
- Frölunda Indians (SWE) — 29 points, +25
- Red Bull Munich (GER) — 22 points, +6
