Vincent Nesa (#6) of Rouen Dragons, time 62:44, was involved in an incident deemed as Kneeing (IIHF Rule 50). The video evidence has determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline – Category 2 – ‘Reckless’.
According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the CHL PSC, Vincent Nesa (#6) of the Rouen Dragons, will receive supplementary discipline under Kneeing – IIHF Rule 50.
Wednesday night, Rouen player (#6) Vincent Nesa used an illegal action, deemed as Kneeing, in which he was assessed a major penalty and automatic game misconduct, against Ilves Tampere player #33 Daniel Gazda.
As the video shows, Nesa lines himself up for a body check skating forward, directly at Gazda in possession of the puck. Sensing pressure and in an attempt to make a move, Gazda shifts to his left, attempting to avoid contact and skate around Nesa. Nesa now at risk of missing the hit adjusts his lower body, jutting his knee out into the knee of Gazda, recklessly causing a leg-on-leg collision. This is Kneeing.
It is important to note, this is not a case where a sudden movement by a player receiving the hit creates an unavoidable knee-on-knee impact. Nesa adjusts to Gazda’s movement by extending his leg out, significantly insuring contact is made. This extension resulted in leg-on-leg contact, with the force necessary to merit supplementary discipline.
The CHL Sports Disciplinary Body suspends Vincent Nesa (#6) of the Rouen Dragons, for 2 games, effective immediately and issues a fine of €1400, effective immediately. In addition, Vincent Nesa of Rouen Dragons, will be considered a repeat offender in the event supplementary discipline is required within the CHL.
