The upcoming season of the Champions Hockey League has its complete line-up of 32 qualified teams after two final qualifiers late last night.
Pinguins Bremerhaven secured their place in the CHL for the very first time before ZSC Lions Zurich, who have now qualified for their seventh CHL season, filled in the final remaining place.
The 2021/22 CHL Group Stage Draw, which will draw the 32 teams into eight groups of four, will take place on Wednesday, May 19 at 18:00 CEST, and will be broadcasted live on the CHL’s digital platforms. Watch our video to find out more about the Draw.
We are still waiting for the Finnish Liiga and the SHL to end to complete seeding for the draw, but it is already certain that newly crowned Swiss NL champions EV Zug and DEL champions Eisbären Berlin will be allocated into Pot 1 alongside Extraliga champions Oceláři Třinec and the Liiga and SHL champions.
2019/20 CHL Champions the Frölunda Indians will also be seeded into Pot 1.
The list of 32 qualified teams also features five new names! Apart from DEL side Pinguins Bremerhaven, first-time Polish champions JKH GKS Jastrzębie, Swedish teams Rögle Ängelholm and Leksands IF, and HC Donbass Donetsk, who are the first Ukrainian team to qualify for the CHL, will all make their debut in the CHL later this year.
