The Champions Hockey League has confirmed the Challenger League places for the upcoming 2024/25 season. The champions of the following national leagues will be invited to compete in Europe’s elite club ice hockey competition:
- Denmark
- France
- Norway
- Poland
- United Kingdom*
The Challenger League places are reviewed and allocated by the CHL for every season.
The decision is made by taking several criteria such as sportive competitiveness, management structure, infrastructure and attendance figures into careful consideration.
As the Slovak representatives weren’t successful sportswise in CHL games for the last three consecutive seasons, the CHL came to the conclusion that it is fair to rotate and allow Poland to prove themselves on the European stage this upcoming season again.
The 2024/25 CHL season will be played with 24 teams where one place is reserved for the reigning CHL Champions (Genève-Servette), 18 places are allocated to the Shareholder Leagues and five to the Challenger Leagues.
*Based on tradition, national champions in the EIHL are crowned after the Regular Season, not in the Playoffs.
