As we approach the Champions Hockey League Semi-Finals, it’s time to start voting for the most valuable player in the league. The five nominated candidates for the betsson MVP Trophy have been selected by an expert jury from around Europe.
The short-list with the five nominated players has been selected by an expert jury from around Europe. Now it is up to fans to select the three finalist by voting for their favorite here . Voting will be open until 9 January (6:00 pm CET), from when the votes will be reset to zero and started over again to find the eventual winner of this prestigious trophy.
The nominated players are
- Chay Genoway – Frölunda Indians (SWE)
- Milan Gulaš – HC Pilsen (CZE)
- Ryan Lasch – Frölunda Indians (SWE)
- Stephen Michalek – Red Bull Salzburg (AUT)
- Trevor Parkes – Red Bull Munich (GER)
Why are they nominated?
Chay Genoway is the second-highest points scorer in the CHL so far, and the top-scoring defenseman, with 14 points in 10 games.
Pilsen's inspirational captain Milan Gulaš leads his team with 12 points in eight matches, and scored the winning penalty shot against Skellefteå to put them into the Semi-Finals.
Ryan Lasch barely needs an introduction, but the two-time CHL Champion is the current leading points scorer in the CHL this season. While he may only have two goals, the has 15 assists which is also the most so far.
Trevor Parks is Red Bull Munich's leading goal scorer with nine in only six games played. He has the highest average of points per game in the CHL, notching two every time he steps on the ice thus far.
And then there's Red Bull Salzburg's fantastic netminder Stephen Michalek, who is leading the CHL with 92.69% of shots faced.

This year’s jury consists of a member each from all six founding leagues plus the CHL: Bo Lennartssson (Senior Sports Advisor at the CHL), Bernd Freimüller (ice hockey columnist for laola1.at/AUT), Jiří Vítek (hockey writer with international focus for Denik Sport/CZE), Petteri Nokelainen (former NHL-pro & hockey expert for MTV3/FIN), Basti Schwele (ice hockey commentator for Sport 1/GER), Thomas Roost (NHL Scout for Central Scouting Europe & hockey writer/SUI) and Peter Zäll (Chief strategy officer at betsson/SWE).
