QUICK STATS
- Genève unbeaten on home ice this season
- Skellefteå have won all but one of their away games
- First-time face-off between the two clubs
Both Genève-Servette and Skellefteå AIK rank in the Top 5 of our goals scored leaderboard. The Swiss team have scored 41 goals in 12 games which comes in at 3.42 goals per game while Swedish challengers Skellefteå have scored three less in the same amount of CHL games this season, taking them to a very respectable 3.17 goals per game.
Looking ahead to the Final, in which Genève will have the benefit of home ice thanks to a better accumulated record throughout the entire 2023/24 CHL season, it's interesting to note that Skellefteå have been clinical on the road this season having won 5/6 games away.
On the flip side, Genève boast a six-game unbeaten home ice record which the likes of reigning DEL champions Red Bull Munich, reigning SHL champions the Växjö Lakers and 2023 Czech Extraliga regular season winners Dynamo Pardubice haven't been able to break through.
Face-off win % puts these two teams on level terms, each having won around 51% of puck drops, with a slight edge going Skellefteå's way. With a matching 26 goals against, resulting in an average of 2.17 goals against per game, our two Finalists are also locked here.
Let's take a look back at each team's record in the CHL this season. This one is once again as close as it gets, with the Swiss champions sporting a 7-1-4 record to Skellefteå's 7-5 report. On closer analysis, Genève's seven wins came from six regulation wins and one OT win over Pardubice on Game Day 5, whereas Skellefteå have won all seven of their games in regulation.
It's clear these two teams are in the 2023/24 Final for a reason. They have been deadly in the pan-European competition all season and are inseparable when it comes to stats, featuring nearly identical goals per game, face-off % stats and many more!
Both have relied on elite players from up and down their rosters to do the scoring and backed that up with solid defending and reliable goaltending. Genève and Skellefteå both lost some games earlier in the season but bounced back and picked up the pace when the Playoffs rolled around.
All in all, we've got a LOT to look forward to!
