All four finalists in this season's Continental Cup Final will be eligible to take part in the 2020/21 Champions Hockey League if they can win January's final round.
At a meeting in Copenhagen on Monday, the CHL Board discussed the eligibility of the Continental Cup Finalists to take part in next season's Champions Hockey League. The board concluded that the Nottingham Panthers (UK), Neman Grodno (BLR), SønderjyksE Vojens (DEN) and Comarch Cracovia (POL) all fulfill the required standards should they win the tournament. All four teams have previously taken part in the CHL and are deemed a valuable addition to Europe's most prestigious club competition should they qualify.
The CHL will grant an additional second place for the 2020/21 Champions Hockey League season to the national league of the IIHF Continental Cup winners – which is allocated to the league champions. Should the IIHF Continental Cup winners also become national champions, the second place will be allocated to the Regular Season winners for Belarus/Denmark/Poland or to the Regular Season runners-up if the IIHF Continental Cup winners win both, the Championship and the Regular Season. For the United Kingdom, the second place will granted to the Regular Season runners-up in case the IIHF Continental Cup winners are also champions (as, in line with their traditions, the Elite League crowns their national champions at the end of the Regular Season).
The IIHF Continental Cup Final is played 10-12 January 2020 in Vojens (DEN). For more information about the tournament click here.
