As the pinnacle of the European club ice hockey season, the CHL Final will be played on 18 February 2025 at the home venue of one of the Finalists. As per CHL Board decision, all potential venues are eligible to host the CHL Final. For this reason, the accumulated record leading up to the Final will be used as a decisive factor. This means that the points teams earned during the Regular Season and the Playoffs will be summed up and the better-ranked Finalist will earn the hosting rights to the CHL Final 2025.
The current team ranking, sorted by points, can be found here. Please note that for games in the CHL Playoffs, 3 points are awarded for a win and 1 point for a tie after / at the conclusion of regulation time. Overtime and shootouts are part of the series and do not entitle an extra point.
After the Semi-Finals First Games, certain scenarios are already clear: Sparta Prague can no longer earn enough points to host the CHL Final, and Genève-Servette could only host if they face the Czech side. This puts ZSC Lions Zurich and Färjestad Karlstad in the best position to host CHL Final 2025.
If the two Finalists are tied on points, the following tie-breaking rules apply:
1. Greater number of wins in regulation time (3-point wins)
2. Greater number of wins in total (regulation time wins (W) + overtime and shootout wins (OTW))
3. Better goal difference (GDF)
4. More goals scored (GF)
5. Greater number of points in away games (APTS)
6. More away goals scored (AGF)
7. The higher position in the 2024/25 CHL Draw pot allocation
The CHL will officially confirm the host city of the 2025 CHL Final after the Semi-Finals Return Games.
