So close, yet so far...
Both Finnish side Lukko Rauma and Czech side Vítkovice Ridera were agonisingly close to keeping their Final hopes alive in their games. Lukko dropped a 2-0 lead on the night, while the Czechs failed to score a series-equaliser against a heavy-hitting Skellefteå, despite pushing down to the final seconds.
Both were spectacular opponents and we've loved seeing their passion and determination all season!
A legacy to build on...
Eight-time CHL participants Skellefteå are the latest Swedish team to continue the devasting dominance clubs from the country that brought the world the zip (or we could've just gone with the usual IKEA reference) have in the pan-European competition.
Ever since the inaugural 2014/15 season, each Final has seen at least one team donning a yellow and blue flag participate. Rögle Ängelholm and Luleå Hockey have each lifted the European Trophy once, while juggernauts Frölunda Gothenburg have their name on the iconic trophy FOUR times...
