Luleå Hockey are the team to beat this season. Heading into their Champions Hockey League Semi-Finals Return Game against fellow SHL side Frölunda Gothenburg, the Swedes boast an unbeaten record and haven't lost a single game.
One of the main reasons behind their success has been superb goaltending from breakout star Matteus Ward in net. The 21-year-old is in his first season with the Swedish outlet and has been their go-to man to guard the posts.
Ward has played in ten games this season, the most of any goaltender alongside fellow LGT MVP Nominee Christian Heljanko of Tappara Tampere, and has let only 14 shots in for a save percentage of nearly 93%.
The youngster's 1.55 goals against average is also one of the best we've seen in the CHL this season, especially considering how many games he's played.
With stats like this, this young player has made a lasting impression on CHL fans throughout the season, especially considering his age and the fact that this is his first time playing on the pan-European stage of the CHL.
You can vote for Matteus Ward as your LGT MVP for 2022/23 from Sunday, 15 January at 17:00 CET here.
