As we near one month from the spectacular end to the 2024/25 season of the Champions Hockey League, the line-up for the upcoming season has passed the halfway point and is now 13 teams strong! Here's a breakdown of our seven most recent qualifiers.
Head here to read about our first Race to Qualify update with a summary of our first six qualifiers and here for a full breakdown of qualified teams!
Brynäs IF
Swedish team Brynäs IF went from winning the 2023/24 championship in Sweden's second tier of ice hockey, HockeyAllsvenskan, to winning the SHL regular season the following year. That has earned them qualification for the upcoming season of the CHL, their first in over seven years!
SC Bern
National League heavyweights SC Bern are another team returning to the CHL after some time out, as the Swiss side played six consecutive seasons in our pan-European competition between 2014 and 2020, making the Quarter-Finals twice, but haven't been back since. We can't wait to see the Bern Bear back on a CHL jersey again!
Eisbären Berlin
Reigning DEL champions Eisbären Berlin finished in second place in the regular season of Germany's top tier and are already in the process of defending their title in the playoffs as we speak. They had their best-ever season in the CHL in 2024/25, making the Quarter-Finals where they narrowly lost to eventual CHL Champions ZSC Lions Zurich. When they skate out on the CHL ice later this year, it'll be their eighth season on Europe's biggest club ice hockey stage!
Mountfield HK
Previous Finalists Mountfield HK are back in the Champions Hockey League! The Czech Extraliga side finished in second place behind Sparta Prague in the regular season of Czech's premier division of ice hockey to secure qualification for the CHL after missing out on the action of the past two seasons.
Ilves Tampere
The iconic green and yellow colours of Finnish side Ilves Tampere have graced us in the CHL for the past three seasons and they'll do so again in 2025/26. The Tampere team have had trouble performing on the European stage, exiting in the Regular Season last year and making the Playoffs in only one of their past three seasons. It's time to end this run and we believe Ilves can do exactly that when they skate out on the CHL ice in 2025/26.
Luleå Hockey
2015 CHL Champions and two-time CHL Finalists Luleå Hockey are in for the upcoming season of Europe's biggest club ice hockey competition. 2025/26 will be their sixth CHL season and after making the Final in their last participation, they'll be a tough challenger again when the upcoming season starts later this year. Watch out!
Lukko Rauma
It was a race down to the very last games, but two-time CHL Semi-Finalists Lukko Rauma secured their place in the 2025/26 line-up from top spot of the Liiga regular season and we're thrilled to have this strong contender back in on our line-up after a season out.
Who will qualify next? With leagues across Europe now heading into the playoffs phases, the next qualifiers for the upcoming 2025/26 season of the Champions Hockey League will be determined by who becomes league champions.
