Färjestad Karlstad earned their fourth win of the season and handed Poles Comarch Cracovia their fourth loss in a decisive 5-1 decision to guarantee their place in the Round of 16 of the 2022/23 season of the Champions Hockey League.
The one-sided game was controlled from start to finish by the reigning SHL champions, with Färjestad scoring in each period and five different goal scorers getting their name up on the board.
One of the names that flashed up on the jumbotron was that of 34-year-old Patrik Lundh who scored his side's second goal of the game, and his first goal of the season, after returning from an injury that has kept him on the sideline for the start of Färjestad's CHL season.
"It's nice to be back, it's always sad to be aside," he said, "but you have to be able to handle these situations and do as best as you can."
His first-period goal was one of his first goals in some time - "It's always nice to see the puck slide past the goalline," said Lundh smiling.
Färjestad's dominating performances not only in this game but all season long have resulted in them securing their spot in the 2022/23 Playoffs which is something Lundh is happy about - "We always try our best when we go out on the ice, we want to win every game."
Despite his side winning 4/5 of their games this season, Lundh has reservations about how his side played last night.
"I think we could have stepped up our game a bit," he said, "and upped the speed but we won so overall it is all good."
Färjestad have already started their SHL season and have a packed schedule at the moment - "We have a lot of games right now but it's fun and we are excited to keep going!"
The Swedes' next game in the CHL will be an away game against Cracovia in Poland - "It will be nice to have another game against them in Poland next week, we will try and win again," concluded Lundh.
