Villach SV were founded in 1923 in the Carinthian city of Villach. The team colours are blue and white. Villach have been in the top Austrian league since 1977 and are six times Austrian champions, having won all their league titles between 1980/81 and 2005/06. Villach have a large fanbase in the southern part of the country and derbies against fellow Carinthian rivals, Austrian record champions KAC Klagenfurt, are regularly sold out.
All home games are played in the Villacher Stadthalle (capacity 4800).
Villach SV have an important youth program in Austria - some of its best-known products are NHLers Michael Grabner (New York Islanders) and Michael Raffl (Philadelphia Flyers).
Villach participated in the inaugural 2014/15 CHL season, finishing third in Group C with a 2-4 record. They will return to Europe's elite ice hockey competition for the 2022/23 season after a seven-year break.
