Storhamar Ishockey are the pride of the small town of Hamar (population of 30,000) in Norway. After finally moving indoors in 1981, the club have been in the top league since 1982 and have been one of the top clubs in Norway that pride themselves in developing young talent.
The club have played in the Hamar Olympic Amphitheatre (also called the Northern Lights Arena) since 1994, which is the biggest wooden building in Northern Europe, drawing some of the biggest and most enthusiastic crowds in the Norwegian league.
Storhamar were the Cinderella story of the 2015/16 Champions Hockey League, going through their group with victories over Sparta Prague and Genève-Servette, before then eliminating Red Bull Salzburg in the Round of 32. Their run eventually came to an end in the second Playoffs round, but it was a story that captured the imagination of many European fans.
Storhamar's second foray into the world of European club ice hockey saw them beat one of the best Czech sides of the 21st-century era - Oceláři Třinec - home and away and also beat Finnish mega club Tappara Tampere in OT as the Norwegian team made the Playoffs where they exited to Skellefteå AIK in the Round of 16.
They played their third CHL season in 2024/25 and recorded wins against Fribourg-Gottéron and Lausanne HC but failed to make it into the Top 16.
