The Rouen Dragons were founded in 1982 as the Rouen Hockey Club. Only three years after being founded the club were promoted to France's top division. They won their first league title in 1990 and have won another 17 since, most recently in 2022/23 and again in 2023/24.
They have established themselves as one of the top teams in Ligue Magnus both domestically and internationally - winning six French Cups, four League Cups and lifting the Continental Cup twice.
The Dragons are known for more than just their titles. The club has created social and educational projects in Rouen, most notably the establishment of "The Dragons bring you back home" - an association that transports people who are not able to drive their car safely back from home games as well as their own training centre and a school for the development of young hockey players in the world of professional sports while managing their academic studies.
Rouen have participated in the Champions Hockey League four times. Their first participation was in the 2016/17 season, their second in 2018/19, when they finished second in the Group Stage and qualified for the Playoffs for the very first time. They were ultimately eliminated by Red Bull Salzburg in the Round of 16.
In the 2021/22 CHL season they became the first French team to make it to the Quarter-Finals and in 2023/24 they beat eventual Finalists Skellefteå AIK and Finnish mega club Ilves Tampere in the Regular Season but failed to make to the Playoffs in the new playing format.
