Jukurit Mikkeli were founded in 1970 in the Finnish town of Mikkeli.
The club spent the first 30 years of their existence mostly in Finland's lower leagues, before returning to Mestis, Finland's second-highest league, at the turn of the century.
Between 2000 and 2016, the club won seven second tier championships, three of which were in their first three years, and only missed out on the playoffs once.
They gained their place in Liiga, Finland's top tier, for the 2016/17 season and have played there ever since.
A great 2021/22 season regular season showing, their best in Liiga to date, earned them a qualification place for the upcoming season of the Champions Hockey League.
The club will make their CHL debut in 2022/23.
