HC Donbass Donetsk are the first ever Ukrainian hockey club to qualify for the Champions Hockey League.
The club is based in the city of Donetsk and was founded in 2005. They spent two seasons in the KHL between 2012 and 2014. They currently compete in the UHL – the Ukrainian Hockey League and have won the Ukrainian national championship a eight times, most recently in 2020/21.
Donbass Donetsk also won the 2012/13 IIHF Continental Cup.
Despite Donetsk being located in East Ukraine, the club will host its CHL games in the countries’ capital Kiev.
