Polish team GKS Tychy were founded in 1971 and are six-time Polish champions having won titles in 2005, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020 and most recently in 2025. In 2016, the team won a bronze medal in the Continental Cup, becoming the first side from their country to achieve a placing in that competition. NHLers Krzysztof Oliwa and Mariusz Czerkawski are both former Tychy alumni.
Tychy made history in the 2018/19 season by becoming the first-ever Polish team to not only register a point in the Champions Hockey League, but also win a game with their home victory over HC Bolzano. That win on Game Day 5 came after the Poles had also run IFK Helsinki close in their home opener, and made quite an impression with their fans both home and away.
They have participated in two past seasons in Europe's biggest club ice hockey competition and have won at least once in each.
