Brynäs IF, based in Gävle, Sweden, have a rich and storied history in Swedish ice hockey. Founded in 1912, the team quickly became one of the most successful and iconic clubs in Swedish hockey. Brynäs first joined the top Swedish league, now known as the SHL, in 1960 and has been a mainstay in the league ever since, aside from a brief relegation in the 2022/23 season. The club earned promotion back to the SHL in their very first season by winning the HockeyAllsvenskan title and being back in the SHL for the 2024/25 season.
Brynäs IF have won the Swedish championship 13 times, with their most recent title coming in 2012. In the 1960s and '70s, Brynas were a Swedish powerhouse - between 1964 and 1980, they won 10 titles in Sweden, and in the European Cup they won two silvers and two bronzes.
The team play at the Monitor ERP Arena in Gävle with a capacity of 7,909 and the club’s colours are black, yellow, and red.
