The votes are in and the winner of the Betsson MVP Trophy for the 2018/19 Champions Hockey League season is Trevor Parkes of Red Bull Munich.
Parkes had an outstanding season and was a key reason that a German team advanced to the CHL Final for the first time ever. The 27-year-old native of Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada was solid both defensively and offensively, with a tournament-leading nine goals in nine games, and had an important physical presence as well.
The right winger beat out Red Bull Salzburg goaltender Stephen Michalek and HC Pilsen forward Milan Gulaš to win the award in the fan vote. The final three were determined by a jury of experts.
This year’s jury consisted of a member each from all six founding leagues plus the CHL: Bo Lennartsson (Senior Sports Advisor at the CHL), Bernd Freimüller (ice hockey columnist for laola1.at/AUT), Jiří Vítek (hockey writer with international focus for Denik Sport/CZE), Petteri Nokelainen (former NHL-pro & hockey expert for MTV3/FIN), Basti Schwele (ice hockey commentator for Sport 1/GER), Thomas Roost (NHL Scout for Central Scouting Europe & hockey writer/SUI) and Peter Zäll (Chief strategy officer at betsson/SWE).
